Security Checking at Airports

There is lot of concern among travelers regarding security checking at air ports. The recent Shah Rukh Khan incident (blown out of proportion by media) has created lot of mis-understanding among common people.

People should understand that security checking is a must and not only from the point of view of terror attacks but also health (read swine flu).

Recently I came back to Hyderabad from Mumbai was surprised to note that there is no arrangement to check for swine flu Mumbai air port, at least for domestic travelers. As far as security check is concern, I was carrying a steel chain (used to lock the luggage in trains, which I used when I went to Vapi, Gujarat by train) in my hand luggage but first and second security checks allowed me to carry the chain (in-side locked bag) but was dis-allowed at third check while boarding the plane.

I had informed the security personnel of the belonging even before the security check that my bag contains a chain and he said its OK to carry chain but asked me to drink liquid from the mineral water bottle I was carrying.

I simply want to say every one that there is tremendous security lapse at Air-Ports in India and people in India (and media) tried to compare the same with strong security check at Newark Air-Port where Shah Rukh Khan was detained for two hours.

If you see the history you will find that American Air Port security has even stopped Al Gore and senator Kennedy. It is high time that India starts treating VIP's a commoner and VIP's also start behaving like a common man.
